Prologue

Mankind's quest to explore the known and unknown universe was inhibited by flesh, bone, and mortality. From the early-mid last millennium, the rise of learning algorithmic and logarithmic technology had progressed to the point of making human intervention obsolete. All functions that inhibited the sustainability of exponential life on Earth had been cataloged and computed to the point of realization that humanity's place on Earth was no longer sustainable.

The quest shifted to the exploration of the galaxy and the myriad of opportune systems that could support life in the format that man knew it. The eXV series initiative launched jumper technology autonomous probes to explore and interact with lifeforms from within our known galaxy and beyond. Powered by star shine, early eXV's were observatory beings. Protected in calsar-aluminium shells with self-winding jump launch systems, eXVs were able to land and launch themselves from any given point on any planet that contained a surface. eXV's sole role was that of learning, with the ability to make decisions that would further their discoveries and chart their explorations and interactions, which would, in time, be reported on Earth.

Earth's progress was inevitably doomed by generations of mankind's destruction. Irreparable damage caused by humanity and the gradual fading of their star called SUN. eXV missions 1 through 10 led to the discovery of calsar-aluminium, a virtually indestructible substance gifted to mankind by a civilization discovered in the Hyperverse Gamma Quadrant. Man's being had ceased to exist, but the autonomous beings created by man still used Earth in its frozen format as a place of gathering and dissemination of discoveries. Relics of man's existence in the universe were beginning to fade, but 500 eXV11 series beings continue their quest.
